Meet Millie
Hi, I’m Millie.
I’m a Dorset-based art curator with a goal of democratising the art world. Passionate about removing barriers that traditional galleries and museums impose, I work to enable everyone, regardless of their background or familiarity with art, to engage in creativity in a meaningful way.
In my previous role as Assistant Curator & Operations Officer at TheGallery, I was involved in major exhibitions, such as co-curating the AUB hang of the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023 and working with Royal Academician Ian McKeever on his exhibition Against Architecture: Remodelled.
With a strong emphasis on community, I love collaborating with local organisations to bring more art to Bournemouth and the surrounding areas, contributing to the regeneration of the high street and enabling creative businesses and individuals to flourish. In November 2024, I curated the exhibition Orange the World at Bobby's Department Store in partnership with AUB's Students' Union and the charity Soroptimist International in recognition of the United Nations’ campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence.
I’m currently partnered with Patch Places in Bournemouth where I’m curating a showcase of artists based in Dorset, Hampshire and Wiltshire who have responded to the theme of 'home'. This is my biggest project to date! The exhibition and accompanying launch event are a celebration of both art and community, acting as a way of exploring new sites as art venues while bringing people together and helping artists get discovered by new audiences.
